Greetings,
I’m writing this on the two-year anniversary of the official formation of vCISO Services, LLC, but my infosec journey has been much longer than that. Thirty-four years ago, I worked as a porter (janitor) at a hotel in New Jersey. I took a year off between high school and college to decide the direction of my life – and to earn money for college. I promised myself that one day, when I had become successful, I would stay in that hotel. Recently, opportunity allowed that to happen. I realized I learned an early lesson then applicable to information security. I’ve uploaded that video early (it’s the 7/31 episode) for you at https://youtu.be/vQL6oXQv8SI.
Our Rise of the Virtual CISO presentation at the National Cyber Summit in Huntsville Alabama was well received. I will be presenting it again at the 2019 InfoSec Nashville conference as well as possibly other conferences in the fall. Check back at https://vcisoservices.com/events for updates. A recording of the Huntsville session is available on our YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAnWhD_CNtM.
I am pleased to be this month’s featured CISO for Security Current’s CISO Spotlight series. In it, I discuss why I started vCISO Services, LLC. Spoiler: it’s is all about passion and service. Read more at https://securitycurrent.com/greg-schaffer-vciso-services-llc/.
We continue to provide clients with services to enhance their information security. A few recent examples:
- Conducted several Business Continuity Table Top exercises
- Supported customer audits
- Completed the Cloud Computing Matrix self-assessment
- Completed the Financial Services Sector Cybersecurity Profile
- Provided baseline requirements for a HIPAA-compliant data warehouse
- Began several new risk assessments (qualitative and quantitative)
- Assisted in an acquisition
In addition to providing ongoing virtual CISO services for clients nationwide.
Reflecting on the past two years, I have been blessed to work with several top-notch security professionals on various projects while doing what I love – helping small and midsized businesses gain access to the same skill set that large corporations have. I am very thankful for all who have supported us the first two years – clients, staff, colleagues, and partners. If you’re visiting Franklin, Tennessee, feel free to stop by our office at 231 Public Square, Suite 300, to say hello. And, as always, if there’s anything I can do for you, please let me know.
Thanks,
Greg
